And this is how I spent my valentine's day :) with my best friends!

I don't have to explain much of what we did because we took photos of everything haha

I just wanted to remark the fact that this post is one of those posts that have nothing to do with fashion itself, but with life. Since fashion is a way of living then I think this post may be somehow connected to fashion.

This is supposed to be the "magic touch" that makes their pasta special :)

Now one thing I DO know how to do is DECORATE. And that's what I did with the cupcakes!

Ok. What can I say about this one? ... ;)

Remember my last post? When I said GIVE LOVE, I didn't mean just to that "special one", but EVERYONE! :) Friends are as valuable as family so.. give them love.

Famous for a day!

Ok, I'm not famous.. hahaha but I was close! Almost 2 weeks ago I was with my brother at Starbucks when a photographer and his assistant came on to us and asked for a favor. They were shooting the cover for the Publinews issue for the next day at the movies and they needed "models" to appear as if they were watching a movie so... we said yes. They actually didn't mention that the photos were for the COVER. We thought they were only for a segment or something, so you can imagine our surprise the next day people started calling us like "heyyy I saw you on the cover of the Publinews spread this morning!" haha

I gotta admit it's not a bad picture, but I still can't believe they used it on the cover.. haha

Today's makeup!

Hello! here's another post on my makeup :) This is a TOTAL BLACK smokey eye look! hope you like it..

I don't know why most people think that the smokey eye look, specially the BLACK one, is for a more dark and serious look. Well, I appear smiling in my photos and the smokey eye look doesn't make me look more serious! haha it only enhances the look on my eyes, which is a good thing right?

Anyways, here it is!

Love?

Ok ok I get it , 14th of february is coming soon. Seriously why does everybody freaks out about one specific date when EVERYDAY you're alive you should be able to let people know you love them? Anyways, since many years ago someone decided that LOVE should have it's own date then I encourage you to make the best out of it! Valentine's day is about love. That's why I mentioned before "LOVE" instead of "St. Valentine". The real deal here is.. do you even know what love is?

Everybody is waiting and hoping to find "true love" someday, but have you ever stopped and think about the true meaning of love?

If you thought about it for hours and just couldn't find a way to describe love, that's fine. Love isn't something you can describe or give an specific meaning to. Love is just something you get to feel. Lucky ones in life are the ones that get to SHARE love with people that surround them.

I've bumped into friends that actually got depressed by the fact that they "don't have a valentine" blah blah. Come on people!!! Valentine's day isn't about having a lover, it's about being able to GIVE LOVE. Every day should be valentine's day because everyday you should be able to give love and expect nothing back. Love is actually compassion. And compassion is seeing people through the eyes of God. Think about it. Do you wake up every day and go out feeling compassion for others? are you able to see people the way God looks at you?

Why the hell am I talking about this? Simple. I think that people should stress less about material things to give on 14th of february and start thinking about the way they want to live their lives. On the other hand, I wanted to dedicate this post to my cousin (Majo). Raise your hand if you have ever been brokenhearted? EVERYONE. It's part of life. Why? because what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger, and guess what? You're still breathing. A few months ago I wrote a post named "Una Persona" on which I mentioned that we should be thinking about being a perfect match instead of looking for one to appear out of the blue. That post, read it.

Since I know that by now even I would be too lazy to continue reading, I'm gonna start my conclusion. Majo (and all of you lovely readers), I love you. Always remember to let your heart give love even though you feel like you can't. In life, everything comes back to you, and what greater thing than love to come back? Never let yourself get drown into the thought that you're lonely, ok? 'cause I've got news for you. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Besides, me and many others that I know will always stick with you, there's someone up there who's with you ALL THE TIME. Even if you don't believe it, it's a fact that He'll always be there for you.

Breakups may look like the end of the world I know. Been there, done that. Just remember yourself everyday that you were made for GREAT things in life and God only wants you to aim higher. You can do so much better, trust me. And as batman said, "why do we fall? ...so we can learn to pick ourselves up." Keep that in mind. Also remember that..

"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." - 1 Corinthians 13:13

Getting back to the purpose of this post, LOVE. Give love this 14th of february and remember to keep on giving every day from now on! :) As simple as it sounds, just GIVE LOVE.

This Could be Paradise

Did you know the background of my look is actually my HOME? :) I just love my home. It really could be paradise..

I went out with my brother (Rodrigo Zepeda) as usual looking for cool stuff or backgrounds for my look and watch this..

my dog gave me an idea hahaha

I was trying to get my photos taken, but it was a total FAIL! First my dog started acting like a cat -__- and appeared in my photos!

and theeeeenn... I got attacked by all kinds of insects!

So I decided to go somewhere else to shoot my look :)

The blouse is actually hand-made by me!! the colorful fabric is a traditional fabric used in guatemala. Isn't it beautiful? It represents part of our guatemalan culture :') and it looks great as a part of my blouse!

Today's Makeup

I just got a new set of eye shadows!!! (thanks mom!) I was so exited and I just couldn't wait to try them on. I took a few photos after, but they don't show the makeup very well.

Anyways, hope you like them! :)

I was convinced I was going to edit the photos to make them cooler (as in COLD), but then I realized they look good warmer.

This is the cold effect haha

But this one looks better, don't you think?

Well.. I hope you liked it! And I'll try to post more makeups of the day and uhmm with better pictures that show more the MAKE UP! haha

Till Everything Burns

This look was kind of an accident. Don't get it wrong, finding the fire as a perfect background for the photos was the accident not starting the fire! We went out for a walk with my brother (Rodrigo Zepeda) looking for cool things to photograph and we found my gardener burning the leaves from my garden (he knows how to do it, don't worry. Everything was under control! He always burns them.) and my brother had the idea of shooting my look there!

The photos turned out really pretty with some kind of mysterious mood :) hope you like them!

I gotta admit I was a little scared of getting near the fire haha

I actually hate my hair on this photo, but anyways.. I found this huge stick that was holding a little tree to help it grow straight (you can see it on the first photo), but I also needed a little help to maintain the balance because the ground was very irregular. So I took the stick carefully 'cause I was scared that the tree might fall down, but it didn't! And I put it back I promise :)

This necklace was originally from my mom, but she gave it to me when she saw how much I loved it!

Smokey Eye Tutorial

FINALLY! It took me a long time I know.. but here's the Smokey Eye Tutorial I promised :)

Ok, first thing you need to know to understand this tutorial is that the photos with the materials have different numbers according to the number of the step you'll need them. Then, the photo of the tutorial has arrows that explain the direction on which the eye shadow needs to be applied. And finally, I'll make a brief explanation for each step to make you understand a little bit better.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

EYE SHADOWS:

TUTORIAL:

0. Apply a concealer that's a half-shade lighter or the same than your foundation with a sponge or foundation brush.

1. Apply the gel eye liner with a brush following the shape of the photo.

2. With the same brush, apply the eye shadow from the button to the top to create a fading effect (follow the arrow from the photo).

3. Add a little black shadow (in the direction from the arrow) to make the look more intense.

4. Add a lighter shadow from inside to the middle of your eyelid. (follow the arrow)

5. Apply a highlighter-shadow from the top till it fades into the darker shadow.

6. Apply black eye liner on the top, and brown eye liner on the bottom/inside of your eye.

7. Apply two or three coats of mascara for an intense look.

8. Last but not least, apply a light coat of blush. I also like to darken my eyebrows a little bit to make the Smokey Eye look more complex.

This is only ONE of many ways of getting the Smokey Eye look. I'll try to post more Smokey Eye tutorials or maybe just basic makeup tutorials. Meanwhile, I really hope you can make great use of this tutorial!

As a kid

I remember well when I was younger and I loved climbing trees and going to the playground with my brothers. That's how I got my nickname "Mona" actually haha.

So.. I went back to my childhood with this look! My brother (who took the pictures) and I were at a mini-park we found taking the pictures. When we finished, we found our cousins and my little brother playing at a playground and we just couldn't help it... we went to play! We had such an amazing time and the photos (and my look) turned out great!

I was wearing leggins, a see through blouse and a comfy jacket. It looked great, but I must confess that I was freezing out there! I should've worn a coat or something. Oh and took off my shoes to play haha

Walking on Wonderland

Yeah, that's what it felt like when I walked for the first time on this shoes.

Remember a long time ago that I mentioned I bought a pair of AMAZING shoes at Colombiamoda and that I would post photos of them later. Well, "later" has arrived. FINALLY!

It was love at first sight! I was on a mall back at Colombia and I passed right in front of a shoe store. When I looked inside I saw them <3<3. I told my brother that I wanted to try them on just for fun and we loved them! I just couldn't leave without them. The funny part is that I had... well... no money haha so my brother used my mom's credit card to pay for them.

When I got back to guatemala I had to tell my mom about the shoes before she checked the bill so she wouldn't kill me. I was soooo scared! I started like "mom, I have to tell you something.." and her face went from :D to :| hahaha.. "what did you do?" she asked me. "Please don't get mad! I swear what I did was totally worth it!". And I finally told her what I'd spent and she got just a little upset, but when I showed her the shoes she was like "Ok, now I'm mad!! Why didn't you bought me a pair?" hahahahaha

Anyways.. Meet my shoes

Interesting..

I heard once that people must say "interesting" instead of "It sucks" or "OMG, I don.'t even know what to say" (in a good way), etc. I didn't exactly understood what they meant until now. The fact that you don't like something doesn't make it ugly! It just makes it something interesting that you may not be familiar with.

In fashion, one must be INTERESTING. If you wanna succeed you must do things differently and do them RIGHT. Do things your way. There are sooo many people trying to make their way up in the fashion industry nowadays that you must be telling a different anddddd interesting story so that other people notice you (which.. is what you want, right?).

While I was looking at blogs I follow and my tumblr dashboard today, I found myself saying over and over again in my head "that's interesting"! So I decided to share with you some of the things that caught my eye. Hopefully you'll find this post inspiring :)

Ok, so this is what I'm going to do.

Starting today I'm going to be doing some kind of research on the internet about designers (well known and other not very famous) and I'm gonna be posting some information about them and photos (that I do NOT own) of my favorite outfits from every designer. I must add that I'm probably not gonna be a huge fan of EVERY designer I post about, but still I'll pick the ones I like or well.. hate the least haha jk.

Hello cold weather

Don't know about your country, but here in GUATEMALA the weather is starting to smell like Christmas! It's cold and windy and I just LOVE IT :)

This outfit is plain and simple, but yet everything you need for a weather like this.

I know I've said lotsss of times before that I'm gonna be posting daily, but I haven't been able to do so :/ I've been pretty busy with prom dresses and plans for the 2012.

I'm starting college next year! but still, I don't wanna loose focus on my blog and my interest in fashion.

I'm planning on having some kind of "release" party for my brand next year and also having my show room, my own office, runways, and everything!! I have so MUCHHHH work to do right now if I want to have my new collection (from which you'll hear very soon) on time!

So anyways.. sorry I haven't been posting for a while, but I can assure you that you'll be hearing a LOT MORE about my plans and projects from now on.

Grace from the inside out

I know it's been like AGES since I last posted something to my blog, but trust me.. I have been busy with some projects I'm working on. I promise I'll try to post more often even though I'm having trouble with TIME haha.

Anyways, here's something I did today while I was home playing with the camera.. :)

btw.. the shirt was HAND MADE BY ME! I wanted to make myself a shirt like this for a looong time and I finally got the time to do it!! And since the photo turned out so pretty I made it a look for my lookbook ;) HYPE IF YOU LIKE!

Hair Braids

I know I talked way too much about HAIR on my last post, but this post is something I was supposed to do even before I cut my hair.

My friend (Isa Ardavin) has this thing about braids and I must confess that because of her I started to like braids almost as much as she does. My other friend (Grethel) and I are always up for trying new things and since Isa loves doing braids.. well.. we're some kind of hair-models for her ;) haha. We all love braids now and it's starting to become a habit that every time we get together, Isa tries a new braid in our heads!

About a week before we donated our hairs with Grethel, we got together and as I told you before.. Isa made "her thing", and Grethel and I were her models haha.

Here are some photos from the braids we tried that day :) I must say that these are not our best photos and definitely not the best braids she's made. When we were still in high-school I remember she made me some AMAZING braids! I'll look on my computer to see if I have any photos from those braids so you can see them.

yeeesss! I found some of the "high-school braids" haha. They're only two different braids, but anyways..

This one is amazing! :)

Now getting back to the ones that she made THIS YEAR haha.

First she made Grethel the "waterfall braid" :)

And then she made me.. uumm I'm not shure if this kind of braid has it's own name, but it was beautiful :)

And then, Grethel liked my braid more than her's so Isa changed her's haha

And guess what? Grethel didn't like it.. AGAIN haha

so Isa made her a more simple braid at the end

What's interesting AND amazing about this braids is that she (Isa) never learned how to do them! It's more like a "gift" she has haha

Hair donation

This week I had an amazing experience with one of my best friends (Grethel). We decided to donate our hair about 1 month ago and we finally did it!

I remember thinking like "yeah, it shouldn't be so hard. I mean, hair grows right?", but when the time came when we were only a few hours before cutting it, I started to really put a lot of thought into the fact that I was REALLY CUTTING MY HAIR. I've always had long hair and I just couldn't imagine how would I look with my hair SHORT. It took me a while to put myself together and instead of thinking about ME, start thinking about the main reason why I was doing it.. well, WE were doing it.

This blog is all about fashion right? but have you ever thought about the TRUE meaning of fashion and what effects does it have on people? Fashion has a lot of different meanings according to lots of people. For example, according to my dictionary fashion is: a general term for a currently popular style or practice, especially in clothing, foot wear or accessories.

For me, fashion is not only about what's popular at a time. Fashion is bout feelings, dreams, ideas, style, personality, taste. It's about showing the whole world WHO YOU ARE. It's about expression. Can you imagine living in a world where no one could express themselves? I know, awful. Everybody has different thoughts and more importantly, EVERYBODY has the right to express themselves.

Now, have you ever thought about those kids who dream about having long hair? or even.. any hair at all? Hair is a very common way of expressing one's style and personality in fashion. Either you wear it long, short, layered, red, black, white, or whatever. HAIR IS A WAY OF EXPRESSION. So I started thinking "how do kids with cancer manage to express themselves through something as simple as hair styling if... they have none?" I mean, I know there are a lot of other ways for expressing your own style, but what about those little girls who dream about wearing their hair long like a princess? or those who wish they could wear braids or ribbons or bows? They have the right to express their style through hair and they SHOULD be able to do it. It's not just about making them feel pretty, it's about making them feel more confident and happy with who they are and how God created them.

After all, fashion is not only a matter of looks, it's a matter of HEART.

That's when I decided I wasn't gonna worry anymore about how would I look with short hair you know. MY HAIR WILL GROW AGAIN and if I can put a smile on a kid's face and help them make a wish come true just by cutting off my hair then, I will do it no matter how hard it may be for me. When you start thinking about others instead of thinking about YOU, amazing things happen.

So anyways, this post goes for all financially disadvantaged children under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis who will be benefited by our hair donation :)

After that, we had our hair fixed a little bit and thiiiiiiiiiis is the final product ;) hahahaha

This was definitely an amazing experience and I'm really glad I got to share it with close friends and my twin (Grethel). I LOVE YOU GUYS.

So everyone keep in mind that fashion is not just about looks. It involves much, MUCH more than that. Think about ways you can help others :)

And Grethel... always remember: "It takes a STRONG heart to give what was given to you and share it with those in need".

And this is mostly what my next project will look like!! I'm doing that jacket for myself and I would LOVE to wear this COMPLETE outfit just like the picture, but I find it hard because of the shoes.. Besides the shoes the only difference between this look and the one I'll wear is that I'm making my jacket with the letter "A" on it !! It's gonna be awesome when it's done.

Anyways, I'll post a look for my lookbook when I'm done with my jacket!!

Hey there :) this post is all about SHOES.

Remember my trip to Colombiamoda 2011 last week? Ok, before I post photos of ME at colombia I would like to show you something that caught my eye while I was there.

You see.. there are a lot of ways how people can show their personal style and shoes is one of them! Everyone wears what they want and you actually can tell a lot about a person just looking at the way they WALK in their shoes and the kind of shoes they wear.

In guatemala most people are still not used to expressing themselves with their clothes. The thing is people here in guatemala are just more "reserved" than people in other countries and maybe that's why when I was at colombiamoda the variety of shoes all girls AND boy wear caught my eye. I just couldn't believe the amount of different styles, colors, sizes, etc. I was looking at! Everywhere I turned I was looking at different and interesting shoes.

Anyways, I managed to take some photos of the ones that where something like "out of the ordinary".. FOR ME! remember I'm not used to this kind of freedom in style because of where I live haha, but we're getting there ;) someday maybe I'll make a difference in guatemala and maybe someeeday we will have our own FASHION WEEK GUATEMALA. :) I never get tired of dreaming about it so.. who knows :)

I must confess it all started as a joke. I was telling my brother like "hey look at those shoes!" every minute and finally it occurred to me that I could take photos of all of those interesting shoes and post it in my blog!

This red ones caught my eye from faaaaar away. The color is so.. idk, like FIRE haha but they're nice though.

On my last day at colombia I went to the mall and I entered Binario. It's mostly a SHOE store.

Ok so I was walking right outside that store when I was the red boots! :O I entered the store to take a closer look at them cause I did remember I saw them at colobiamoda. I was looking at them and suddenly... OMG!! ..............I'm gonna live you with the doubt about what I saw cause I have a whole post planned for that already! haha you're gonna LOVE IT!

Now getting back to the shoes..

I loved this ones... <3

Most photos were taken from the back cause they didn't know I was photographing their shoes haha. That's what I was doing at the beginning till I realized people stared at me like saying "why is she taking photos of that girl's shoes??" soooo.. I stared asking people like "hey may I take a photo of your shoes?" hahaha :)

This ones were actually like a NEON PINK, but too bad the picture doesn't show the exact same color they were.

And these were part of the exhibition of shoes! how many colors :o

And those were all photos I was able to get. There were SO MANY shoes there that I'm surprised I even got the chance to take this many photos and I'm still short if I wanted to show you ALL of the shoes I saw.
Anyways, this is just proof that everyone likes to wear different shoes and therefore everyone has a different and unique style!

Now, wait for the "OMG" post to see what was it that I saw at Binario.

I recently started using my twitter account to follow most of my favorite blogs, and today I was looking at my home page and one of them posted something about Alexander McQueen. Since I love everything I see about Alexander McQueen I clicked on the link to see the post... but... I accidentally clicked ANOTHER link! I didn't realized my mistake until I saw the clothes the models are wearing haha that's NOT Alexander McQueen's!! I kept looking just because... I guess I am way to curios. But then I just couldn't stop looking! This Fall 2011 Campaign is beautiful! It's simple, yet amazing.

Here's the story for this corny, yet amazing love post.

You see, I've always had a great relationship with my cousin. We're almost like sisters from different misters! haha. We both have boyfriends at the time and as it is tradition here in guatemala to celebrate each month you keep making it "in a relationship", it's something like a anniversary but every month. She asked me if I could make a photo-shoot with her boyfriend and her so that for their "anniversary" she could give him a scrapbook with cool and romantic photos of them together. I know.. CORNY!

The thing is that I agreed to take the photos and I would like to share them since they turned out so pretty. I feel like I could tell their story just by looking at these photos.. and that's what makes it a "yet amazing" post :)

Here are some more photos from my look! It was a LAZY DAY. I stayed home watching movies and Modern Family with my brothers :)

My shoes! which I bought from this outlet I went to with my mom one day and I was actually thinking "what the hell are we doing here? we're NEVER gonna find something pretty in here.." and then I saw this pair of shoes!! I loved them.. :)

At the end.. my mom bought NOTHING and I got a nice pair of new shoes :D yey!

And this is my face... hahaha :p

I don't know why I was so SERIOUS on the last one, but then I took this other one to make it look more funny.. haha

But the real funny part about this photo-shoot is that when I was taking my photos my dogs were around, as you may see in the second photo, and one of them was looking at me like saying "what about me? I'm cute too. Take me a photo!" so....

Awwwww :') YES, he is cute!!

This story is kinda funny :) haha

I was spending the day with my brother and we actually love to go to KIDS STORES and look at all the toys we wish we had the right age to have haha and while we were in one of those stores we saw this little "fast food" toys :O and well.. we just "needed" one hahaha and we bought two. One hamburger and one ice-cream!

We just bought them for fun, but then I realized I could use them as some kind of charms or something like that! Check out how useful they turned out to be :)

And this is what I do when I get bored waiting for my mom at the salon haha. I always get really bored when she's getting a hair cut so this time I decided that I should make something useful of the time I spend there and I took some markers and paper to sketch and this is what I did :)

He definitely has become one of my favorite designers! His Haute Couture collection just blew me away :O

Here are my favorites from his Fall 2011 Couture :) hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

This model actually looks like one of the models I love working with! wow

I loved it!! the fabrics are just amazing (something I wish we had in Guatemala) and the shapes look stunning in all models.

That's all I have for today, but I have a very cute and cool post prepared for tomorrow! :) I haven't been able to post things very often :( actually.. I have no excuse other than being lazy and I'm sorry about that. Idk why I've been so tired lately, but I'll make it up this week I promise :) I have veryyy interesting posts planed already! Llatzer's Fashion Show - NEO ART

Llatzer is the name of the fashion school in Guatemala that allows students to show their talent through a runway fashion show. On the show, students not only show real talent, but get the chance to be awarded based on originality, quality, theme and presentation.

They give 5 awards at the end of the show for: best original design, best fantasy design, best illustration (all students must present an illustration showing the designs that'll be presented on the runway), best use of fabrics and color, and best pattern line.

All these awards are given to the students that hit the high score based on the judges rating.

The show was divided into 3 parts according each to the next themes: 1- Neo, 2- art deco, cubism, impressionism and fauvism; and 3- expressionism.

I showed up early so I got the chance to enter the backstage and watch as some of the designers got their models ready for the runway.

This is the first time I ever do a photo-shoot with ME as the photographer haha, but I did the best I could, which was difficult since we only had 15 minutes to take the photos :O

This is just something I found between all drawings I've made so far :) I think I made this about 2 years ago while I was in fashion school. Hope you like it! It took me loooooong time to finish it!! I remember I had to buy like 3 or 4 markers cause ONE just couldn't do it.. probably because the paper is NOT supposed to be used for marker painting :p haha. I promised myself I would never EVER paint with markers on "ACUARELA" paper again...
